The initial focus of the YHCoE was on collaborative procurement and acheivement of the milestones of the National Procurement Strategy by authorities within the region.
Subregional groups were formed with procurement contacts for all the authorities within the region. As a result of these group meetings the Supplier and Contractor Management System project was initiated.
The RCE Procurement Programme has been agreed by the Regional Centres of Excellence to transform local government procurement and make major efficiencies in the billions spent each year by the sector on goods and services.

In order to spread best practice around the region guidance and procurement related documents that have been recognised as good practice will be included on the website in this area.

Local Performance Indicators for Procurement
A set of local performance indicators has been developed through the Library of Local Performance indicators (IDea and Audit Commission) with SOPO and wide range of stakeholders in local goverment procurement.
The full list of 34 indicators has been circulated round the region with a view to the selection of an agreed common set of indicators that can be benchmarked.
